To say we had an unusual rainy season this summer would be an understatement. It rained for a solid month and as a wedding photographer, I’m quite used to moving outdoor ceremonies inside, which is what we did at Ashley and John’s wedding at the Beso del Sol in Dunedin. We really wanted some outside shots before the monsoon struck so the ceremony was perhaps the quickest in wedding history with a few exchange of words, rings, and the fastest kiss EVER before making a mad dash to the door. We couldn’t believe our luck as we got through the family formals and then on to Ashley and John’s pictures on the hotel’s pier.
This wasn’t a traditional wedding with bridesmaids and groomsmen, but an intimate wedding amongst friends and family. There was no bouquet or garter toss, but a lot of dancing, laughter, and simply good times! Ashley was one of the most “stress free” bride’s I’ve ever had. She didn’t want her wedding day to be anything other than fun, laid back, and just a happy day despite the weather or anything else a fast-paced day can throw at a beautiful bride. That is the story she wanted to tell. One full of love and laughter. I just loved telling their story.
